By Nicolas Adekeye,

Today, we remember and honour the life of a remarkable individual, a Nigerian hero who left an indelible mark on the lives of many. Exactly two years ago, Christian Ogodo, a media giant and my esteemed boss, lost his dear father, a man whose legacy continues to inspire and motivate those who knew him.

As a police officer, Papa Ogodo was a paragon of discipline, integrity, and service. His bravery and selflessness led to the apprehension of two notorious armed robbers, Oyenusi and Mighty Joe, who terrorized Nigeria, bringing relief to countless citizens and earning him a revered place in the annals of Nigerian history.

But Papa Ogodo’s impact went beyond his professional achievements. He was a pillar in his community, a positive influence on those around him, and a shining example of what it means to live a life of purpose and service. His values, character, and unwavering commitment to excellence have inspired a new generation, including his children, who have gone on to achieve great things.

Christian Ogodo, his first son, is a testament to the values his father instilled in him. As a media giant, he has made a lasting impact on the lives of many, including mine. His leadership, wisdom, and mentorship have been a source of inspiration and guidance, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to learn from him.

And then there’s his remarkable first grandchild, Oghenetega Steffi Eberechukwu Ogodo (Christian’s Daughter), a Harvard award-winning scholar, Bloemberg Leadership Fellow, and Shell Scholar. Her achievements are a testament to the values and support of her family, and it’s clear that Papa Ogodo would be beaming with pride if he were here today.

As we remember Papa Ogodo, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy that continues to inspire, and the countless lives he touched. We honour his memory by striving to emulate his values, character, and commitment to excellence.
