A passenger train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed on Tuesday morning, leaving several carriages overturned and triggering panic among those on board. The incident occurred shortly after the train departed Abuja around 11 a.m., en route to Kaduna.

One passenger described the scene as chaotic, with people scrambling to safety in fear and confusion. “It was a terrifying experience. I was in one of the carriages that overturned. We were all shouting and trying to get out as fast as we could,” the passenger said.

The cause of the derailment is still unknown, and there has been no official confirmation of injuries or casualties. However, security sources report that military personnel have been deployed to the site to assist in evacuating stranded passengers.

“It was a loud bang, and the next thing we knew, the train had derailed. We are lucky to be alive,” another passenger said. Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.

The Abuja-Kaduna train route is a popular corridor, and the derailment is likely to cause significant disruptions to passengers and the rail network. An investigation into the cause of the derailment is expected to be conducted.
