RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT MARKS TRANSITION TO DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE WITH CHURCH THANKSGIVING SERVICE
The Rivers State Government in Nigeria has announced plans to hold an interdenominational church thanksgiving service on Sunday, marking the transition from emergency rule to democratic governance. Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
The thanksgiving service is scheduled to hold at the Ecumenical Centre, Abonima Wharf Road, Port Harcourt, at 10 am, with guests expected to be seated by 9:30 am. Invitees include permanent secretaries, local government chairmen, heads of state security and paramilitary agencies, traditional rulers, board chairmen and captains of industries.

“The Government of Rivers State is pleased to invite… to the Inter-Denominational Church Thanksgiving Service, as part of transition activities to usher in Democratic Governance in Rivers State,” the statement read. Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), Rivers Administrator, is named Special Guest of Honour.
The transition follows Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s anticipated reinstatement to his position, after being suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The government has invited critical stakeholders to join in the thanksgiving service celebrating the return to democratic governance in Rivers State.
