The Oyo State Government and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have intensified efforts to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted in the state, deploying aerial surveillance and other security assets to support ongoing rescue operations.

Governor Seyi Makinde appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies, assuring them that every available resource was being deployed to ensure the safe return of the victims.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, the governor commended the Chief of the Air Staff and the Nigerian Air Force for their prompt response and continued support in the search operation.

Makinde disclosed that the NAF had made its aerial surveillance platform available to aid rescue efforts while the state’s newly acquired aerial security assets are being assembled at the Air Force Base in Lagos.

The governor explained that the acquisition of the platforms followed extensive consultations with the Air Force to guarantee access to technical support, maintenance services, engineering expertise and pilot training.

He expressed optimism that the new assets would significantly strengthen security operations across Oyo State and neighbouring states once they become fully operational.

“The aerial platforms will enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance and rapid response capabilities, thereby improving the overall security architecture of the state,” the statement noted.

Representing the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Suleh reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at rescuing the abducted teachers and pupils.

He also commended the Oyo State Government for its partnership with the Air Force and its support for ongoing NAF projects and infrastructure development within the state.
