US CONDEMNS DEADLY KWARA ATTACK, BACKS TINUBU’S SECURITY RESPONSE

The United States has condemned the deadly attack in Kwara State that reportedly claimed the lives of more than 160 people, describing the incident as “senseless violence” as the death toll remains unconfirmed and several residents are still unaccounted for.
In a statement issued via its official Nigeria Mission page, the US expressed deep condolences to the families and communities affected by the attack.
“The United States condemns the horrific attack in Kwara State in Nigeria,” the statement said, noting that many victims are yet to be accounted for.
The US government also welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to deploy security forces to protect vulnerable villages in the area, as well as his order to federal and state authorities to provide humanitarian assistance to affected communities.
Washington further expressed support for efforts to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack, stressing the need for accountability and justice.
The attack has sparked renewed concerns over rural security in Nigeria, particularly in communities frequently targeted by armed groups, with calls growing for sustained security presence and long-term solutions.
