The Nigerian Army Finance Corps (NAFC) on Friday, February 6, 2026, held a valedictory parade in Lagos to honour ten senior officers retiring from active military service.

The colourful ceremony took place at the Nigerian Army School of Signals Parade Ground, Apapa, and was attended by top military brass, industry leaders, and family members of the retired officers.

Speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour, retired Major General Kamal Ishola Yusuf, described the parade as one of the most dignified and well-organised valedictory ceremonies he had witnessed in his military career.

In his address, Major General Yusuf underscored the importance of tradition within the military, noting that customs such as the pulling-out parade remain central to the Nigerian Army’s identity, discipline, and sense of purpose.

“The military is one of the few institutions that has remained steadfast in preserving tradition. These customs define who we are and strengthen our collective ethos,” he said, adding that the ceremony reflected the Nigerian Army Finance Corps’ commitment to honouring its heritage.

The retired senior officers celebrated at the event were Major General KI Yusuf, Major General AA Fayemiwo, Major General J Mohammed, Major General RN Ochei, Major General MO Ihanuwaze, Major General M Galadima, Major General SA Gumel, Brigadier General EA Obona, Brigadier General AS Maikano, and Brigadier General MK Baba-Mallam.

Major General Yusuf expressed gratitude to God for life and protection throughout their years of service and appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, for his continuous support to the Finance Corps. He also commended the Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army), Major General TT Sidick, for his dedication and leadership, which contributed to the success of the event.
