₦50,000 FG Relief Grant: No Application Required as Ministry Unveils Beneficiary Selection, Payment Process
The Federal Government has ruled out public applications for its ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), saying beneficiaries will be identified through existing national social and identity databases.
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction said the intervention was specifically designed to provide financial relief to vulnerable households struggling with the rising cost of living.
In a clarification issued on November 6, the Ministry explained that beneficiaries would be selected from the National Social Register and verified national identity records, using established poverty and vulnerability indicators.
The exercise, according to the Ministry, will cover all six geopolitical zones, with no provision for individuals to register, submit applications or seek assistance from government officials and intermediaries.
Under the programme, each selected beneficiary will receive a one-off grant of ₦50,000, which will be paid in full without deductions.
The Ministry stressed that the financial support was a grant, not a loan, and recipients would not be required to repay the money.
It further explained that successful beneficiaries would be contacted through SMS notifications sent by authorised digital financial service providers. The messages will contain instructions on how to confirm acceptance and access the funds.
The approved payment providers are ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo PSB, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint.
Beneficiaries will be required to follow the instructions in their respective notifications, which may involve replying YES or dialling designated USSD codes to authorise payment.
The approved codes are 94523# for ALAT by Wema Bank, 6710# for MoMo PSB, 72600# for NairaGram, 95520# for OPay and 557327# for Moniepoint.
Following confirmation, the ₦50,000 will be credited directly to the beneficiary’s mobile wallet.
The Ministry added that the USSD option would enable recipients to access the support without smartphones or internet connectivity.
It also dismissed suggestions that individuals could influence the selection process, insisting that beneficiary identification was automated and governed by predetermined eligibility criteria.
The Ministry consequently warned Nigerians to be wary of fraudsters exploiting the relief programme to extort money from unsuspecting citizens.
It said no registration fee, payment to an agent or external registration link was required to access the grant.
It specifically cautioned beneficiaries against disclosing their Personal Identification Numbers, One-Time Passwords and Bank Verification Numbers to anyone, including individuals claiming to represent the programme.
The Ministry described any demand for money in exchange for inclusion, approval or faster payment as an attempt to defraud the public.
For complaints and further clarification, Nigerians were advised to contact the official NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.
The Ministry said the intervention reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering social protection support transparently and with dignity as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
