The Village Head of Osomegbe community in Edo North has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, citing the ongoing construction of the 14.022-kilometre Ekperi–Osomegbe Road and Bridge Project as a significant intervention for his people.

The traditional leader described the federal government-backed infrastructure project as meaningful to the community, expressing appreciation to the President and Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, whom he credited with facilitating the intervention.

He also offered prayers for Tinubu and the minister, expressing optimism that the project would improve the lives of residents and address longstanding transportation challenges in the area.

The project, being executed through the Federal Ministry of Regional Development, covers 14.022 kilometres of road construction and a 60-metre bridge, alongside drainage facilities, culverts, road shoulders and asphalt surfacing.

Construction is currently underway, with earthworks, grading, compaction and road foundation preparation progressing on the initial section.

Two single-cell culverts have also been constructed as part of the drainage infrastructure designed to improve water passage and protect the road against erosion and flooding.

The road project is expected to improve connectivity between Ekperi and Osomegbe, ease transportation difficulties and provide residents with better access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services.

For communities in rural Edo North, improved road infrastructure could also strengthen agricultural activities by making it easier for farmers and traders to transport produce and access commercial centres.

However, the ultimate measure of the intervention will be its timely completion, quality of execution and the lasting benefits it delivers to residents of the benefiting communities.
