A coalition backing Governor Peter Mbah has launched a fierce attack on activist Kennedy Iyere for demanding the redeployment of CP Fidelis Ndubuisi Ogarabe as Enugu State Commissioner of Police.

The Coalition of Renewed Hope for Enugu State, in a statement signed by its coordinator, condemned what it called a reckless and politically motivated campaign published in a Facebook and Falcon Media graphic dated 6th November 2026 under the headline “IYERE: REJECT CP OGARABE!”

Iyere had called for CP Ogarabe’s removal and a probe of the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, alleging that Governor Mbah influenced the posting ahead of the 2027 election. The coalition said it read the attack “with total disgust” and told Iyere to “shut up and stop this madness.”

The coalition argued that CP Ogarabe was appointed by the Police Service Commission after interviews and screening in line with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, and questioned Iyere’s standing to reject the appointment.

“Who is Iyere to reject a CP appointed by the PSC?” the statement asked, adding that “Iyere is not PSC. Iyere is not IGP. Iyere is not President Tinubu. Iyere is just a noisy activist looking for relevance.”

It described him as a serial political merchant who campaigned for Mbah in 2023 before calling the Governor “a mistake made by the people of Enugu State” in a viral video in February 2026.

The coalition alleged that Iyere was accused by ALGON Deputy Chairman Hon. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze of being under investigation for alleged fraud of ₦113,508,757 as NIYEEDEP boss, and that he withdrew from the 2024 Edo governorship race under the Accord Party days to the election after an alleged settlement.

It insisted the attack on the police chief was really about 2027, noting that Iyere said after his reconciliation with Mbah on 17th May 2026, brokered by Jim Nwobodo, that he would not endorse the Governor and that several 2027 aspirants had approached him for support. “So this attack on CP Ogarabe is not about security. It is Iyere marketing himself to 2027 aspirants,” the coalition said.

The statement defended CP Ogarabe’s credentials, noting he served in Enugu since 1996, was Chief Security Officer to former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and served as CP INTERPOL Annex, Lagos. “PSC found him worthy. The IGP trusts him. Enugu people welcome him. Only Iyere and his paymasters are crying,” it said. The coalition warned Iyere to “leave CP Ogarabe alone, leave PSC alone, leave Enugu security alone,” and urged him to settle any quarrel with the Governor rather than reopen it through the police appointment.

The coalition passed a vote of confidence on CP Ogarabe and called on the PSC, the IGP, Governor Mbah and all Enugu stakeholders to ignore Iyere’s release. “Nobody has rejected CP Ogarabe except Iyere. And Iyere does not speak for Enugu,” the statement said.
