No Magic Can Replace Water and Roads, Say Ebira Witchcraft Leaders

In a move that has captured public attention, the Association of Ebira Witchcraft has traded spells for civic advocacy, urging the Kogi State Government to tackle persistent infrastructure gaps.

Led by Her Majesty Inya Oyarazi Kudi Attah, the group addressed a message to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, emphasizing a simple truth: even supernatural powers cannot replace clean water and functional schools.

The association highlighted that access to water across Ebira communities remains so inconsistent that “not even divination can predict when taps might run.” They called for functional boreholes, reliable water schemes, and sustainable infrastructure to improve daily life.

Education was next on their agenda. According to the group, many schools in Kogi Central are barely functional, with classrooms, furniture, and even teachers disappearing faster than rabbits in a magic show. “Education should not require supernatural patience,” they quipped.

Transport infrastructure also came under scrutiny, with a particular focus on the motor park in Okene. The group argued that the facility’s poor condition does little justice to the town’s commercial importance and may scare commuters more than any local folklore.

Subtly nodding to past administrations, the association referenced former governor Yahaya Bello, noting that infrastructure issues have lingered long enough to feel “ancient.” They also joked that digital projects like e-libraries mean little when schools lack water, electricity, or roofs that withstand the rain.

The broader message was clear: roads need repairs, schools need rebuilding, and water must flow because, as they hinted, good governance should not require magic.
