Makinde-Led PDP Insists Supreme Court Will Settle Party Leadership Dispute
The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared that the ongoing leadership crisis within the party will ultimately be resolved by the Supreme Court.
The Makinde-led bloc made this position known amid deepening tensions over the control of the party’s national leadership structure, insisting that only a final judicial pronouncement can bring lasting clarity to the dispute.
Party sources within the camp argued that internal mechanisms have been exhausted, making legal interpretation inevitable in determining the authentic leadership of the PDP.
The crisis, which has created divisions among key stakeholders, revolves around disagreements over party hierarchy, authority, and legitimacy of certain decisions taken by opposing factions.
Supporters of the Makinde camp maintain that resorting to the Supreme Court will ensure a definitive and binding resolution, capable of restoring unity and stability within the party.
However, political observers warn that prolonged legal battles could further deepen cracks within the PDP ahead of future electoral contests unless reconciliation efforts are simultaneously pursued.
Despite the tensions, leaders within the faction expressed confidence that the judiciary will uphold due process and deliver a judgment that reflects the rule of law.
