Tinubu Says Nigeria Receiving Foreign Support to Tackle Terrorism, Banditry
President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that Nigeria is receiving support from foreign partners in its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and banditry across the country.
In his 2026 Easter message, the President acknowledged that security challenges persist despite intensified military operations, but expressed confidence that the situation will improve with sustained international cooperation.
Tinubu stated that his administration is strengthening partnerships beyond Nigeria’s borders to confront insecurity. He said the government is making resources available while working with foreign allies to deliver decisive blows against terrorist groups and bandits.
Although the President did not specify the countries involved or the form of assistance being provided, he noted that such collaborations are already yielding positive outcomes.
His remarks come amid renewed violence in parts of the country, including recent attacks in Plateau State. However, Tinubu said security chiefs have assured him that ongoing operations are producing better results.
The President also called on Nigerians to support security agencies and avoid actions that could undermine national stability, stressing that peace remains essential for development.
“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” he said.
Beyond security, Tinubu defended his administration’s economic reforms, describing them as necessary despite current challenges. He also urged political actors to act responsibly ahead of the 2027 general elections and comply with the Electoral Act.
