President John Mahama has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, revealing that he prays daily for the country’s stability and recovery.

Speaking at an award ceremony in Ghana, Mahama stressed that the fate of Nigeria is closely tied to the broader stability of the African continent.

“Nigeria is of keen security interest to us. If Nigeria does well, Ghana does well,” he said.

The Ghanaian leader warned that continued insecurity in Nigeria could have spillover effects across the region, particularly if it leads to large-scale migration.

He noted that Ghana could face significant pressure due to its longstanding historical and cultural ties with Nigeria, should instability force Nigerians to seek refuge in neighbouring countries.

“Every day I wake up, I pray for Nigeria; I ask God to help the country get things right,” Mahama added.

His remarks come amid ongoing concerns over violence linked to insurgency and banditry, especially in northern parts of Nigeria.

Mahama’s comments highlight growing regional anxiety about Nigeria’s security challenges, with increasing calls from African leaders for urgent and sustainable solutions.
