Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, Wife Found Dead in Apparent Domestic Shooting – Police
Former Justin Fairfax and his wife have been found dead in their home in an apparent domestic shooting, according to police authorities in Fairfax County.
Police Chief Kevin Davis said preliminary findings indicate that Fairfax shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. Authorities linked the incident to an ongoing domestic dispute described as a “complicated” divorce.
Officers responded to the residence in Annandale shortly after midnight, where they discovered both individuals dead inside the home. Investigators say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Fairfax served as lieutenant governor of Virginia from 2018 to 2022 under former governor Ralph Northam. He also ran for governor in 2021.
During his time in office, Fairfax faced calls to resign following sexual assault allegations made against him in 2019, which he denied.
Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths are ongoing.
