Former Inspector General of Police and frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Muhammed Adamu Abubakar, has alleged a plot to manipulate the forthcoming governorship primary in favour of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s preferred successor, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

At a media briefing in Lafia, Adamu Abubakar, who spoke through his Director General of the 2027 gubernatorial movement, Barrister Musa Hussein, said he would not be intimidated or distracted by what he described as undemocratic tactics ahead of the party’s primaries.

He alleged that ward executives and other party officials were being subjected to pressure to support Wadada in the build up to the exercise.

Adamu Abubakar called on President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC to urgently intervene, review the process, and ensure strict adherence to the party’s constitution and internal democratic guidelines.

He warned that any attempt to impose a candidate or undermine due process could create tension within the party in the state.

Also speaking, Barrister Musa Hussein, Director General of the Mohammed Abubakar Adamu 2027 Gubernatorial Movement, reiterated the call for fairness and transparency in the primary process.

Barrister Thomas Asongu, Director of Legal Services of the Abubakar Adamu Campaign Organisation, also urged the party leadership to ensure compliance with electoral guidelines.

In separate remarks, Mohammed Tanimu Al Makura, former Commissioner of Land and Urban Development in Nasarawa State, and APC stakeholder Michael Ato, also called for a level playing field for all aspirants in the contest.

The APC has not officially responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
