The wife of Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has filed a legal complaint alleging assault against a far-right political influencer following a confrontation in Madrid.

According to reports, Begoña Gómez lodged the complaint after an incident involving Vito Quiles, who approached and questioned her in a café over an ongoing corruption investigation tied to her name.

A video shared online shows Quiles confronting Gómez and continuing to follow her outside the venue while pressing her with questions. The situation escalated as bystanders intervened to prevent further contact before Gómez left the scene in a taxi.

Gómez has denied any wrongdoing in the corruption case, which was initiated by far-right groups. Notably, Spanish prosecutors have recently recommended that the investigation be dropped due to insufficient grounds.

The incident has sparked widespread political reactions across Spain. Members of the ruling Socialist Party condemned the influencer’s actions, while figures from the opposition also criticized the confrontation, though some suggested the influencer was acting in a journalistic capacity.

The controversy unfolds amid broader political pressure on Sánchez’s government, which is facing multiple corruption-related allegations involving current and former officials. Analysts say the case highlights growing tensions between political actors and media influencers in Spain’s increasingly polarized environment.

Authorities are expected to review the complaint as legal proceedings determine whether the influencer’s actions constitute assault under Spanish law.
