The Federal Government has reaffirmed its determination to end banditry and violent conflicts in parts of Nasarawa State, pledging decisive action to restore peace and protect lives and property.

This comes as security and government officials intensify interventions in troubled communities within Nasarawa Local Government Area, including Udege Kasa, Akyewa, Angwan Ogiri, Apura Adagba, and Udeni Ginda.

The Senior Special Assistant to Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement (North Central), Abiodun Essiet, made the government’s position known during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the affected areas.

Essiet, who engaged community leaders and stakeholders during the visit, stressed that the Federal Government would not yield to criminal elements threatening the peace of the region.

She called on residents of the affected communities to lay down their arms and embrace peaceful coexistence, warning against being manipulated by political actors or other interests to fuel violence, particularly as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of future elections.

Stakeholders who spoke during the visit also appealed for sustained government presence and security reinforcement to prevent further attacks and rebuild trust among residents.

Among them was Yahaya Owuna, who emphasised the need for coordinated efforts between government authorities and local communities to address the root causes of the crisis.

A resident, Abdulkarim Ogiri, highlighted the impact of the violence on livelihoods, calling for urgent and lasting solutions to restore normalcy.

The Federal Government reiterated that ongoing security operations and community engagement efforts form part of a broader strategy to stabilise conflict-prone areas and ensure sustainable peace across the country.
