Nursing Student Found Beheaded in Her Apartment, Obowo Imo State

Tension has engulfed the Umuadara community in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, following the gruesome killing of a female nursing student identified as Wendy Achumba.

The victim, said to be a student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, was reportedly found dead inside her private off-campus apartment on Thursday after neighbours became alarmed when she failed to respond to repeated calls or come out of her room.

Reports from multiple sources stated that Achumba, who hailed from Ngwa in Abia State, had completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing post-basic studies before the tragic incident occurred.

Residents who forced open the apartment reportedly discovered her lifeless body with severe injuries, including deep cuts to the neck, while some reports alleged that she had been beheaded by her attackers.

Sources within the community said the scene triggered panic among students and residents, with angry youths gathering around the area and confronting security operatives who arrived for preliminary investigations.

The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, who stated that officers visited the scene after receiving reports of the killing. According to the police, the victim’s body has been recovered and deposited in a morgue while investigations continue to identify and arrest those responsible.

Police authorities also appealed to members of the public and students of the institution to remain calm, assuring that efforts were underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder.

While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, some reports indicated that one suspect has already been arrested for preliminary questioning as security agencies intensify a manhunt for other possible accomplices.
