Italian authorities have seized millions of euros worth of assets linked to a deceased Mafia mobster in one of the country’s latest crackdowns on organized crime wealth.

According to Italian financial police, the operation targeted properties and assets allegedly connected to a late senior member of the Sicilian Mafia, also known as Cosa Nostra. Officials said the confiscated assets included luxury villas, high-end vehicles, company shares, bank accounts and large sums of cash believed to have been accumulated through criminal activities.

Investigators said the seizure was carried out under Italy’s anti-Mafia laws, which allow authorities to confiscate assets suspected to have been acquired through organized crime, even after a suspect’s death. Prosecutors believe the wealth had been hidden through relatives, associates and front companies over several years.

The assets were reportedly spread across multiple locations in Sicily and other parts of Italy. Officials said some of the confiscated villas were lavishly furnished and equipped with luxury amenities, while the seized cars included expensive sports and executive vehicles.

Italian authorities stated that the operation forms part of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling the financial networks of Mafia organizations by targeting their economic power rather than only arresting members. Anti-Mafia prosecutors have increasingly focused on tracing hidden wealth, shell companies and money laundering operations tied to organized crime syndicates.

Officials did not disclose the exact total value of the seized assets immediately, but local media reports estimated the confiscation to be worth several million euros. Authorities said investigations into other individuals connected to the mobster’s financial network are ongoing.
