Tinubu Presents Certificate of Return to Shettima, Confirms Running Mate for 2027

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with his certificate of return as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, reaffirming the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s decision to retain the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for a second-term bid.

The presentation, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, followed the APC’s formal confirmation of Shettima as the party’s vice-presidential candidate. A video of the event, shared by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, showed Tinubu handing the certificate to the Vice President after a brief exchange.

The development effectively ends months of speculation over whether President Tinubu would pick a new running mate ahead of the 2027 general election. Earlier this month, the APC formally submitted the names of Tinubu and Shettima as its presidential ticket to the party, expressing confidence that the duo would secure another mandate in the forthcoming polls.

Reacting to the development, Olusegun Dada dismissed suggestions that Shettima’s position in the administration had ever been in doubt, insisting the Vice President remained an integral part of the President’s re-election team.
