The Osun State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, on Tuesday played host to Engineer Oluremi Omowaye, the Head of Media for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, at its media centre in Osogbo.

Welcoming the guest, the NUJ Osun Chairman, Dr. Adeyemi Aboderin, reemphasised the need for the media to be adequately informed on the action plans of political actors in the state, thereby enabling effective information dissemination to the public ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state.

In his presentation, Engineer Omowaye highlighted the APC’s action plans, which include massive infrastructure development.

He noted that during the tenure of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the Olaiya flyover was constructed using a World Bank contractor and that it still stands as the most effective today.

He however, complained that the flyovers built by the present administration were substandard, as they were done by a contractor he described as estate agents.

He maintained that both flyovers at Oke Fia and Lameco built by the Adeleke administration were unnecessary.

On education, Omowaye said it is one of the major projects of the intending APC governorship candidate.

He challenged that the N130 billion proposed by Governor Ademola Adeleke for an airport project could cater for schools in Osun State, summing that if the fund were split into N50 million each, it would conveniently take care of 2,600 schools in Osun, noting that Osun State as a whole does not have as many schools.

Speaking on agriculture, he said it is a dear project to his candidate, who is a farmer himself, and that he will prioritise agricultural development. He also spoke about health and tourism as very key agenda items, noting that tourism is a great potential in the state.

Other areas highlighted include industrialisation. On electricity, he said work has already started, as the Light Up Osun project is underway, being handled by his candidate, and would take off by the weekend.

Omowaye said the candidate, when he was Commissioner for Finance in the Oyetola administration, made finance in the state smooth with arrears paid without the state borrowing in four years. He assured that quick wins will include the reinstatement of sacked 66 Osun Broadcasting Corporation staff, medical doctors, and teachers, as well as the recruitment of more personnel.

He affirmed that the candidate, popularly called AMBO, has maintained that there will be no violence, as he insists “will not match on the blood of anyone to government house.”
