PDP Faction Backs Tinubu for 2027, Praises Wike’s FCT Transformation
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, declaring its support for his re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Monday, the group said its decision was driven by what it described as the overriding national interest, arguing that unity, stability and development should take precedence over partisan considerations.
The faction said President Tinubu had demonstrated confidence in the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, whose leadership it credited with accelerating infrastructure development and transforming Abuja.
It also pointed to the recent FCT Area Council elections, claiming that its candidates stepped down in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as an act of political cooperation and patriotism.
According to the statement, the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, though demanding sacrifices from Nigerians, are aimed at laying the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous economy.
The group consequently urged PDP members, supporters and other stakeholders across the country to support the APC-led Federal Government and work towards President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
It also commended President Tinubu and Wike for what it described as their commitment to national development, particularly the ongoing transformation of the Federal Capital Territory.
The statement concluded with a pledge of support for the President’s mandate and prayers for Nigeria, the PDP and Wike.
Editor’s Note: The endorsement was made by a faction of the PDP and does not represent an official position of the party’s national leadership.
