The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has maintained that Governor Hope Uzodimma remains its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, despite a reported court intervention challenging his candidacy.

The party’s position comes amid conflicting reports over its senatorial ticket, with the APC dismissing claims of a change in its candidate as unverified information being circulated on social media.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the party reaffirmed that Uzodimma emerged victorious in its senatorial primary, securing what it described as overwhelming support from members.

The statement, signed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, said the party remained confident in Uzodimma’s candidacy despite the controversy surrounding the nomination.

However, the party acknowledged the reported legal development, saying its legal department would examine the court’s intervention before deciding on the appropriate steps to take.

“The Party’s legal department shall study the outcome of a legal intervention in this matter and act accordingly,” the statement said.

The APC also urged its members and supporters to remain focused on strengthening the party and securing victories across constituencies in Imo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

It cautioned party loyalists against being distracted by reports circulating on social media, reiterating its position that Uzodimma remained its candidate for Imo West Senatorial District.

The controversy comes amid competing claims over the APC’s senatorial ticket in Imo West, with the party maintaining its position while its legal team reviews the reported court intervention.
