The Department of State Services (DSS) has revealed how it apprehended a suspect accused of issuing deadly threats against students and teachers in schools across Abuja.

According to the agency, the suspect had allegedly circulated messages warning of planned attacks on several schools within the Federal Capital Territory, sparking widespread panic among parents, school authorities, and residents.

In a statement released by the DSS, officials disclosed that the threat was taken seriously due to its potential to disrupt public safety and the education system. The agency immediately launched a coordinated intelligence operation, deploying surveillance and digital tracking tools to trace the origin of the messages.

“The suspect was identified and apprehended after a thorough investigation. Relevant evidence linking him to the threats has been recovered,” the DSS said.

Security operatives reportedly acted swiftly to prevent any possible attack, assuring the public that there was no imminent danger following the arrest. The agency emphasized its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining national security, particularly in sensitive environments such as schools.

The DSS also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, warning against the spread of false information capable of causing unnecessary panic.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The incident has reignited concerns over security in schools across Nigeria, with many parents calling for increased protective measures and stronger monitoring of threats, especially those circulated through digital platforms.
