Enugu Gov Appoints Nollywood Stars Eucharia Anunobi, Rachael Okonkwo As Aides

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has appointed Nollywood actresses Eucharia Anunobi and Rachael Okonkwo as aides as part of a broader reshuffle involving 101 political appointees.

The appointments were contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on Monday.

Okonkwo, popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Film and Creative Industry Development.

The actress, whose full name is Nnenna Rachael Okonkwo, is from Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State and is widely known for her role in the popular Nkoli Nwa Nsukka film series.

Anunobi, a veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist, was appointed Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for the Enugu-North Senatorial Zone.

She rose to prominence in Nollywood in the 1990s and has featured in more than 90 films before becoming involved in Christian ministry.

The appointments are part of the 101 appointments approved by Mbah, comprising seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants.

While Okonkwo’s portfolio is focused on developing the state’s film and creative industry, Anunobi’s assignment centres on women mobilisation in Enugu-North.

The appointments place two prominent figures from the entertainment industry in roles that connect their public profiles and experience with the state government’s creative-sector and women-focused programmes.
