Former Super Eagles Striker Michael Eneramo Reportedly Dies After Collapsing During Match in Kaduna
Former Super Eagles forward, Michael Eneramo, has reportedly passed away after collapsing during a football game in Kaduna State.
According to eyewitness accounts and local media reports, the 40-year-old former professional footballer slumped during a match at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna.
Sources said Eneramo had come on as a second-half substitute before he suddenly went down on the pitch without any physical contact from other players.
A witness at the scene described the incident as sudden and shocking.
“He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful,” the source said.
“He was later confirmed dead at the hospital.”
Eneramo, a former striker for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, enjoyed a notable club career, featuring for teams such as Beşiktaş J.K., Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Lobi Stars FC.
In recent years, he was reportedly involved in football development, including running a football academy.
Following the news, tributes began pouring in, including from the official Super Eagles social media handle, which shared his photo with a short message: “Rest in peace Michael.”
