The Sokoto State Government has commenced the distribution of food items to residents under its Ramadan feeding programme, an initiative reportedly backed by a N1 billion budget allocation.

Beneficiaries across parts of the state have received items such as garri, kuli-kuli, and sachet water as part of the exercise aimed at supporting Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan.

However, the distribution has generated mixed reactions among residents. While some welcomed the intervention as timely relief amid economic hardship, others expressed concern over whether the food items shared correspond with the size of the allocated budget.

Critics have called for greater transparency regarding the breakdown of the N1 billion expenditure, urging the government to provide clarity on how the funds are being utilized.

As of press time, state officials have yet to release detailed information on the full scope of items to be distributed or the total number of beneficiaries expected to benefit from the programme.
