House of Reps Calls for Prayers, National Unity as Muslims Mark Eid
Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called for unity, compassion, and sustained prayers as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the House congratulated Muslim faithful for successfully completing the period of fasting, prayer, and reflection, describing Ramadan as a time that promotes discipline, generosity, and spiritual renewal.
The lawmakers noted that Eid-el-Fitr represents not just the end of fasting but also a continuation of the values of self-restraint, kindness, and support for the less privileged. They urged Nigerians to reflect these virtues in their daily lives to promote peace, unity, and national development.
Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, in his goodwill message, expressed optimism that the prayers offered during Ramadan would bring positive change to the country.
He acknowledged the challenges facing Nigeria, including economic hardship, insecurity, and political tensions, but emphasized that divine mercy has continued to sustain the nation. He urged citizens not to relent in praying for peace, stability, and progress.
Tajudeen also prayed for the acceptance of acts of worship carried out during the fasting period, wishing Muslims abundant rewards.
The House extended its best wishes to Muslims nationwide, hoping the Eid celebration brings peace, joy, and strengthened unity across communities.
