Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed May 11, 2026, for the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The commission said the exercise will run until July 10, 2026, marking the third and final phase of the registration ahead of future elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, INEC explained that the earlier suspension of the exercise on April 17 was to allow for the clean-up of the voters’ register after publication for claims and objections.

INEC called on Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed previous registration windows, to seize the opportunity to register.

The commission also advised registered voters seeking to update their information to visit its offices nationwide or use its designated online portal. Such updates include transfer of registration, correction of personal details, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

It further announced that the voters’ register would be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026, to allow citizens to file claims and objections and help ensure the credibility of the database.

INEC assured that adequate preparations have been made for a seamless exercise and urged citizens to participate actively in strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.
