Iran Hangs Man Convicted of Spying for Mossad, Says Intelligence Aided Israeli Strikes

Iran executed a man on Saturday convicted of providing classified military intelligence to Israel’s Mossad, including details on missile sites that the judiciary said were targeted during a 12-day war last year.

The man, identified as Hossein Pedaran, was hanged after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence, according to the judiciary’s Mizan news agency.

He had been convicted of “espionage and intelligence collaboration” in favor of Israel.

Pedaran provided Mossad with information on missile sites in central Iran’s Isfahan province, the report said. He had received training from Mossad and supplied personal information on military personnel.

The judiciary said the missile sites he identified were targeted in Israeli strikes during a 12-day war in June last year . Investigations indicated the information he transmitted could have been used to target military sites and might have contributed to casualties among personnel stationed there, according to authorities.

Security services found a notebook containing missile-related information classified as “top secret” at his home, along with encrypted storage devices and covert photography equipment.

Pedaran initially contacted the CIA but received no response, according to authorities.

He later established contact with Mossad and communicated via WhatsApp with someone using a Dutch phone number.

He had severed contact with Mossad before the war but attempted to reconnect via Telegram when the attack began, authorities said.

Iranian authorities did not disclose when Pedaran was arrested or tried, and the case had not been previously reported by media.

The execution comes amid an escalation in arrests and executions linked to the Middle East war that began in February and nationwide protests that peaked in January.

According to the Norway-based organization Iran Human Rights, 562 people have been executed in Iran since the start of 2026.
