Kentucky Primary: Gallrein’s Victory Signals Trump’s Strong Hold on GOP

Kentucky Republican Congressman Thomas Massie has lost his party’s primary election to Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein, in what analysts describe as another major sign of former President Donald Trump’s continued dominance over the Republican Party.

Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL and farmer endorsed by Trump, defeated Massie in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District Republican primary after months of intense political attacks and heavy campaign spending. The race became one of the most closely watched Republican contests in the United States, with reports describing it as one of the most expensive House primaries in American history.

Trump had openly targeted Massie following disagreements over several issues, including government spending, foreign policy, and the release of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The former president repeatedly criticized Massie publicly and encouraged Republican voters to remove him from office.

Following the victory, Gallrein thanked Trump for his endorsement and support throughout the campaign, while Trump allies celebrated the result as proof that loyalty to the former president remains a powerful force within the GOP.
