The Labour Party has successfully concluded its nationwide ward, local government, and state congresses, setting the stage for its national convention scheduled to hold in Umuahia on April 28.

The party’s Interim National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, announced this in a statement shared on social media, where she congratulated newly elected leaders across the various levels and described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and well-coordinated.

Usman commended party members, delegates, and stakeholders for their commitment and discipline throughout the process, noting that the successful conduct of the congresses reflects growing unity within the party.

She said the smooth exercise demonstrated the members’ belief in the democratic ideals of the Labour Party and their determination to strengthen the party’s internal structure ahead of future elections.

“The successful conclusion of these congresses is a testament to the dedication of our members and their belief in the democratic ideals of the party,” she stated.

She added that the congresses were largely free of disputes in most parts of the country, describing the outcome as a positive sign for the future of the party.

The congresses form a major part of the party’s leadership selection process and attracted significant participation from members across the country as the Labour Party continues efforts to reposition itself politically.

With the internal exercise now completed, focus has shifted to the upcoming national convention in Umuahia, which is expected to determine the party’s leadership structure and strategic direction moving forward.

Usman urged members to sustain the spirit of unity and cooperation that made the congresses successful as preparations intensify for the convention.
