The Independent National Electoral Commission has pledged to deliver a smooth and trustworthy election in the upcoming vote. The commission’s chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, provided these assurances during a critical planning session with leaders of the nation’s media organizations.

Professor Amupitan confirmed that logistical preparations are in their final phase. Key tasks such as finalizing the voter register, coordinating the deployment of staff, and organizing election materials have all been completed. He highlighted the scale of the exercise, noting that millions of citizens are registered to vote at numerous polling stations across the country. The commission is dedicated to offering every qualified voter an unobstructed chance to cast their ballot, he emphasized.

Security of the electoral process is a paramount concern, the chairman stated. He detailed comprehensive plans developed jointly with national security agencies to protect voters, officials, and voting materials before, during, and after the election. Professor Amupitan extended the commission’s thanks to political parties, civil society groups, and the media for their ongoing partnership. “The media continues to be an essential ally in advancing voter education, ensuring transparency, and building public trust in our elections,” he told the assembled media executives.

The chairman vowed that the commission would use the acknowledged credibility and peace of past elections as a foundation for the forthcoming polls. He promised that all remaining operational details are being settled to avoid any disruptions and to guarantee a flawless election day. Professor Amupitan ended his remarks with a call for collective responsibility. He urged every stakeholder to participate peacefully and follow all electoral rules, reiterating that a successful election is a shared duty. He again thanked the media for its indispensable role in supporting the nation’s democratic journey.
