TCN Dismisses AEDC’s Claim of Transmission Fault on Lokoja Corridor
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has refuted claims by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) that a transmission fault was responsible for recent power outages affecting parts of Kogi State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company described AEDC’s public notice as incorrect, insisting that its network along the Lokoja axis remains fully functional.
AEDC had earlier attributed the disruption affecting communities including Zango, Shetima, Apansede, Phase I, Phase II, Crown Estate, and adjoining areas to a technical fault on TCN infrastructure.
However, TCN strongly denied the allegation, stating that all feeders at the Lokoja Transmission Substation are operational and there is no record of fault, outage, or scheduled maintenance affecting supply in the area.
According to the company, it continues to deliver bulk electricity to AEDC at the required capacity for onward distribution to consumers.
“The company’s network in the region remains stable, and bulk power is being transmitted to AEDC as required,” the statement said.
TCN therefore rejected any suggestion that its infrastructure is responsible for the disruption experienced in the affected communities, distancing itself from AEDC’s explanation.
While reaffirming its commitment to accountability and transparency within the electricity value chain, the transmission company urged stakeholders to ensure proper verification before issuing public statements on power disruptions.
It warned that inaccurate or unverified claims could misinform the public and damage confidence in the sector.
“Publishing unverified information risks undermining public trust in the electricity industry,” the company cautioned.
TCN added that it remains committed to a stable transmission network and will continue to engage with distribution companies and other stakeholders to improve electricity supply nationwide.
