Tinubu Hails Oyebanji’s Historic Re-Election Victory, Urges Inclusive Governance
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his decisive victory in the Ekiti State governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of his administration’s performance and people-centred governance.
In a statement issued on Sunday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the election and for renewing their mandate for Governor Oyebanji.
Tinubu also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process, contributing to what he described as a peaceful and credible exercise.
The President further charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts towards conducting free, fair and transparent elections ahead of the Osun State governorship poll in August and the 2027 general elections.
According to the President, Oyebanji’s victory is historic, making him the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure back-to-back re-election.
He noted that the governor’s first term recorded significant achievements in critical sectors, including infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO Agenda.
“The renewed mandate is a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability and people-centred governance,” the President stated.
Tinubu, however, urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure that all segments of the state are carried along as he begins a new four-year term.
He also commended other candidates who participated in the election, describing their involvement as a demonstration of democratic commitment and urging them to work with the governor in advancing the development of the state.
The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to collaborate with the Ekiti State Government in delivering more democratic dividends and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
He prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
