Tinubu Nominates Tegbe as Minister of Power
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The nomination, contained in a State House press release issued on Thursday, has been formally transmitted to the National Assembly for screening in line with constitutional provisions.

Tegbe’s nomination follows the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down from the position to pursue elective office.
A seasoned fiscal and economic reform expert, Tegbe brings over 35 years of experience across both public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives focused on fiscal policy reforms, governance, and institutional transformation.
He currently serves as Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), overseeing efforts to deepen development cooperation between Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China, including engagements aligned with the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The Presidency noted that Tegbe has also been actively involved in Nigeria’s power sector reforms, working with institutions such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET) on regulatory and institutional frameworks.
According to the statement, his nomination is expected to strengthen ongoing reforms in the sector, improve grid stability, and attract sustainable investments in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President expressed confidence that, upon confirmation, Tegbe will leverage his expertise to deliver improved outcomes in Nigeria’s power sector.
