Tinubu Reaffirms Global Peace Push, Declares Solidarity with Gulf States Amid US/Israel–Iran Tensions
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed Nigeria’s solidarity with several Gulf and Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan, following reported attacks linked to the ongoing US/Israel–Iran conflict.

He said Nigeria stands firmly for peace, restraint, and global stability, stressing that diplomacy remains the best path to resolving international crises.

Tinubu made the remarks at the State House in Abuja while receiving Letters of Credence from nine ambassadors and high commissioners representing countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Sudan, Namibia, Rwanda, Somalia, Argentina, and Congo.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President used the occasion to reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and stronger international cooperation.
“The world needs tranquillity, peace and love. We share that solidarity with all of you in that region,” the President said, expressing support for Gulf countries affected by recent tensions.
The envoys who presented their credentials included the ambassadors of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, alongside other senior diplomatic representatives newly accredited to Nigeria.
Tinubu told the diplomats that Nigeria remains committed to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across trade, security, innovation, and development.
He noted that his administration’s ongoing economic reforms are aimed at positioning Nigeria as a competitive destination for investment and strategic partnership.
“You are arriving in Nigeria at a pivotal period in our national trajectory… designed to reposition Nigeria as a globally competitive hub for investment and sustainable growth,” he said.
The President also highlighted Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities, including youth development, diaspora engagement, regional integration, and democratic governance, particularly within the framework of the Economic Community of West African States.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to addressing global challenges such as climate change, terrorism, and economic inequality through multilateral cooperation.
Tinubu further directed relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to ensure full diplomatic support for the new envoys during their tenure in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the diplomats, the Ambassador of Qatar thanked the President for the reception and pledged stronger relations between their countries and Nigeria.
