The Federal Government has donated four 50-seater hybrid buses to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) through the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi). The buses, capable of running on both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and diesel, are designed to guarantee uninterrupted operations even when CNG supply is unavailable.

Presenting the vehicles to the FCT Minister in Abuja, the Chief Executive Officer and Programme Director of PCNGi, Mr. Michael Oluwagbemi, reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to delivering cheaper, safer, and more reliable transportation for Nigerians. “We felt the FCT should be a major beneficiary. In the next two to three years, I look forward to an Abuja where even those with private cars would choose to leave them at home and use public buses, as is the case in developed countries,” Oluwagbemi said.

The FCTA will handle the operation and maintenance of the buses, while PCNGi will track their use and impact to ensure optimal service delivery. Receiving the buses on behalf of the Minister, the Mandate Secretary for Transport, Mr. Chinedu Elechi, expressed gratitude to the President, describing the gesture as a boost to the capital’s transport system.

“The Honourable Minister has built roads, bridges, and modern bus terminals. We recently commissioned two at Mabushi and Kugbo. These buses will be very useful, and more are on the way,” Elechi said, thanking the President for the initiative and commending PCNGi for its dedication.

The donation aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and aims to strengthen public transportation in the FCT. Oluwagbemi formally handed over the keys, stating that the donation was “to the glory of God, for the service of humanity, and for the benefit of FCT residents.”
