PDP GOVERNORS CONVENE IN ZAMFARA, VOICE CONCERNS OVER NIGERIA’S DIRECTION
A gathering of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors took place in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, as part of their ongoing efforts to strengthen the party and address pressing national issues. The meeting brought together governors from various states, including Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Osun, Oyo, Taraba, and Zamfara.

The governors discussed several key topics, including reports from the National Zoning Committee, the PDP Constitution Review Committee, and the National Executive Committee (NEC). They also deliberated on preparations for the 2025 National Convention and a memo from the National Legislative Assembly caucus.

Furthermore, the governors examined critical national matters, such as the recently conducted bye-elections and the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). They expressed concerns over the state of the nation, citing insecurity, economic hardship, and governance issues as major challenges.

The PDP Governors’ Forum commended the people of Zamfara State for their resilience and thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for his efforts in promoting peace and development in the state. They also condoled with the people of Zamfara over the passing of the Emir of Gusau and with the people of Oyo State over the loss of traditional rulers.
In a statement, the governors reaffirmed their commitment to rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges. “We are determined to work towards a better future for our country, where citizens can live in peace and prosperity,” they said.
The governors also criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what they described as divisive governance and policies that have imposed hardship on Nigerians. They called on the Federal Government to take more decisive action to address insecurity and protect lives and property.
“We urge the government to prioritize the welfare and safety of citizens, rather than pursuing policies that exacerbate the suffering of Nigerians,” the governors stated.
The meeting concluded with a call to action for PDP members and supporters to remain vigilant and committed to the party’s ideals. The governors expressed confidence in the party’s ability to provide a viable alternative to the current government and lead Nigeria towards a brighter future.
