Nigeria’s first baby of 2026, a girl, was born exactly at midnight on New Year’s Day at an Abuja hospital. Her arrival, alongside the birth of triplets to a couple after 13 years of marriage, prompted a visit from the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who expressed great optimism for the nation.

Senator Tinubu presented gifts to the families and shared a message of hope. “The new year holds promise of peace and prosperity for the nation,” she said. She further affirmed, “2026 will be a better year for Nigeria.”

The visit highlighted these births as symbols of a fresh start. The First Lady encouraged the parents and medical staff, framing the joyous events as a sign of hope and renewal for all citizens in the coming year.
