Following the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, leaders of the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have presented their consensus governorship candidate to the First Lady for further support.

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, received Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, at the State House, Abuja, where members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC) formally introduced him as the party’s consensus candidate.

Describing Lagos as politically advanced, the First Lady commended the peaceful consensus-building process, noting that it reflects increasing democratic maturity within the state. She also emphasised that political power ultimately comes from God.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu told the First Lady that all 25 members of the GAC unanimously endorsed Hamzat after extensive consultations with party stakeholders. He said the delegation was at the State House to seek her counsel and blessing.

Leader of the GAC, Tajudeen Olusi, said the visit underscores the recognition of women’s vital role in governance and leadership.

Also speaking, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, commended the First Lady for her contributions at the national level, describing her as a strong pillar of support for governance and development.
