TINUBU MEETS KANO GOVERNOR AMID DEFECTION REPORTS (+VIDEO)

President Bola Tinubu met with Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf at the State House on Monday evening. The details of their discussion were not disclosed to the public. This meeting occurs against a backdrop of persistent reports that Governor Yusuf is planning to defect from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC). Speculation suggests this move has been delayed since earlier this month.

The governor’s visit was among the few engagements President Tinubu held after returning from the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The potential defection has drawn sharp criticism from Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano and the political godfather of Governor Yusuf. Kwankwaso has publicly condemned the plan, describing it as an act of betrayal.
