PRESIDENT TINUBU TO EMBARK ON STATE VISIT TO TÜRKIYE
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Monday, January 26, depart Abuja for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye. The visit aims to deepen the cordial bilateral relations between Nigeria and Türkiye.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed this in a statement. Onanuga stated that the visit is aimed at strengthening existing ties and exploring further areas of cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.
The statement noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid an official visit to Nigeria in October 2021. During President Tinubu’s upcoming visit, both countries will engage in strategic political and diplomatic discussions on shared values in finance, communication, trade and investment.
The agenda will include meetings between high-ranking officials and the signing of memoranda of understanding in scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation and protocol, among others. A business forum will also bring together investors from both countries to explore areas of interest.
Onanuga listed members of the President’s entourage to include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd) and the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Jimi Benson.
Others are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
President Tinubu is expected to return to the country at the conclusion of the visit, Onanuga concluded. The statement from Onanuga was dated January 25, 2025.
