President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on his 61st birthday and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, on attaining the age of 64, praising both men for their contributions to governance and national development.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Governor Sanwo-Olu as a dedicated public servant whose leadership has helped consolidate Lagos State’s position as Nigeria’s economic and commercial hub.
President Tinubu joined members of Sanwo-Olu’s family, the Lagos State Executive Council, political associates and residents of the state in celebrating the governor’s new age.
He commended the governor’s ability to combine his private and public sector experience in driving development and delivering impactful governance.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in consolidating the economic, infrastructural and cultural transformation of Lagos State into a vibrant, dynamic and structured global city with growing influence across the country and the world are remarkable,” the President said.
Tinubu also praised the governor for strengthening Lagos State’s reputation as a centre of excellence and promoting inclusivity, diversity and political harmony in the state.
The President further lauded Sanwo-Olu’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He prayed for continued good health, wisdom and long life for the governor, expressing confidence that his legacy of service would endure.
The President also used the occasion to celebrate his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, describing him as a loyal ally, accomplished leader and committed patriot whose years of public service have contributed significantly to Nigeria’s democratic growth.
“As you celebrate your 64th birthday today, I deeply appreciate your loyalty, dedication and sacrifice,” Tinubu said.
“Throughout the years, you have demonstrated capacity for service, placing national interest above personal considerations and working tirelessly for the progress of our country.”
The President credited Gbajabiamila’s dedication and administrative capacity with supporting the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also highlighted the former Speaker’s role in strengthening democratic institutions, recalling his service as Minority Leader and later Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Tinubu noted that Gbajabiamila played a significant role in the political processes that culminated in the formation of the APC and contributed to shaping the National Assembly during his tenure as Speaker.
The President concluded by praying for good health, wisdom, strength and many more years of impactful service for his Chief of Staff.
Both Sanwo-Olu and Gbajabiamila are among the key political figures who have worked closely with President Tinubu over the years in advancing governance reforms and democratic development in Nigeria.
