French authorities arrested 127 people overnight after celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League final descended into violence and clashes with police across parts of Paris.

The unrest erupted after PSG secured a place in the final by defeating Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate following a tense semifinal clash in Germany. The French champions will now face Arsenal in the Champions League final scheduled for May 30 in Budapest.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said 107 of the arrests were made in Paris alone, while disturbances were reported near the Champs-Élysées, the Eiffel Tower area and Parc des Princes stadium.

Authorities reported that at least 34 people were injured during the disturbances, including 23 police officers who sustained minor injuries. One civilian was left in serious condition following a fireworks-related incident.

Videos shared on social media showed riot police confronting masked youths, burning barricades, fireworks being fired into crowds and damaged public property as thousands of supporters flooded the streets to celebrate PSG’s latest European success.

Interior Minister Nuñez condemned the violence, saying most PSG supporters celebrated peacefully but that “a few hundred individuals” had turned the night into disorder. He also praised police officers for preventing widespread looting and containing the unrest.

Security concerns remain high ahead of the Champions League final later this month, especially after deadly riots followed PSG’s Champions League title celebrations in 2025, when more than 500 people were arrested nationwide.

French authorities said additional security measures are expected to be introduced in Paris for the upcoming final to prevent a repeat of the violence witnessed overnight.
