Angry Usen Community, Edo mob Lynches Man Over Alleged Drug-Fueled Double Killing
A middle-aged man identified as Wale Sunday has been lynched by an angry mob in Usen Community, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, after he allegedly killed two persons with a cutlass.
The incident occurred after the suspect reportedly attacked and killed the two victims without provocation while under the influence of a substance known locally as “colos.”
Eyewitnesses said the suspect picked up a sharp machete and beheaded the first person he came across on the street before moving further to kill a second person with the same cutlass.
The suspect also inflicted machete cuts on one Osaro Aragbala, a member of the Edo State Security Corps who tried to restrain him from further killing.
The Deputy Corps Commander, Operations, Edo State Security Corps, Richard Balogun, who confirmed the incident, described it as horrible and disturbing.
Edo State Command Spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident, saying the deceased persons were immediately evacuated to the mortuary while the injured member of the Edo State Security Corps was taken to the hospital for treatment.
She added that a bag belonging to the suspect was recovered from the scene, and substance suspected to be colos was found inside it.
Sources said the deceased was overpowered by members of the Corps, but an angry mob overwhelmed the Corps personnel and lynched the suspect, bringing the total death to three.
