BREAKING: Troops Rescue Widow of Slain Major General Rabe Abubakar After Bandits Open Fire
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade have rescued Hajiya Amina Abubakar Rabe, the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, following a swift military operation against suspected bandits.
Military sources disclosed on Monday evening that the troops made contact with the fleeing criminals at Tunga Village, where an exchange of fire ensued.
According to the source, the bandits shot Hajiya Amina during the encounter before abandoning her and fleeing the scene as troops advanced.
“Good evening sir, we have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. Our troops of 17 Brigade rescued her. The bandits shot her and fled when we made contact at Tunga Village,” the source said.
The rescued woman was said to be bleeding from the gunshot wound but received immediate first aid from military personnel at the scene.
She is currently being evacuated to Dutsin-Ma for further medical attention.
The rescue operation comes amid an ongoing military manhunt for the killers of the retired senior military officer, Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was recently murdered by armed assailants in Katsina State.
Security authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the latest development as efforts continue to track down the fleeing bandits.
