Prince Harry’s Children Pulled From UK School Over Security Fears

The children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are changing schools in the United Kingdom just two days after starting classes, following concerns raised by the family’s security team over the arrangements for transporting them.

Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, began attending a British school earlier this month after Harry and Meghan returned to the UK following six years in California.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed on Monday that the children would move to another school after discussions with their security team.

“The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” the spokesperson said.

The family has not publicly disclosed the location of its new home or the children’s school.

According to reports, the distance between the family’s residence and the original school, combined with heavy traffic along the route, raised concerns about whether the security arrangements could adequately protect the children during their daily journeys.

The Sussexes stressed that the decision was not a criticism of the school or its staff.

The spokesperson said Harry and Meghan remained “extremely grateful” to the teachers and staff for the care shown to their children and that the move should not be interpreted as a reflection on the school.

The change comes as Harry’s security arrangements in Britain are once again under review.

Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and subsequently moved to the United States. After returning to Britain, they remain non-working royals and do not receive the same automatic taxpayer-funded police protection provided to senior working members of the Royal Family.

Harry has previously challenged the British government’s decision over his security arrangements, arguing that he and his family face significant risks when visiting or living in the UK.

A government committee responsible for assessing security arrangements for senior public figures is currently reviewing Harry’s situation. Meghan is also undergoing a separate risk assessment, according to ITV News.

The latest school move therefore comes against the backdrop of a wider debate over security for the Sussex family following their return to Britain.

The names and locations of both schools have not been publicly disclosed, with the family maintaining strict privacy around the children’s education and daily routines.
