NiMet Boosts Staff Capacity With Training For Kano Administrative Officers

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has commenced a two day capacity building programme for administrative staff in its Kano Zone, in a renewed effort to strengthen workforce efficiency and improve service delivery.

The training, which started on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and ends today, Wednesday, September 16, is being conducted under the human capacity development initiative of the agency’s Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Charles Anosike.

With the theme, “Building Agile, Resilient and Responsive (AR²) 21st Century Workforce,” the programme is focused on equipping administrative personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to meet emerging workplace demands.

NiMet said the training reflects management’s commitment to continuous staff development through regular training and retraining, which it identified as essential to improving employee motivation, productivity and professional performance.

The programme provides participants with practical insights into effective administration and workplace adaptation, while strengthening their capacity to respond to changing organisational requirements.

According to the agency, a competent and responsive workforce remains critical to achieving its mandate and delivering quality meteorological services to Nigerians.

NiMet said the initiative is part of a wider strategy to build an agile and resilient workforce capable of supporting the agency’s operational and administrative objectives.

The training is being held at the Green Desert Hotel in Kano, with administrative personnel drawn from the Kano Zone participating.

The Public Relations Unit of NiMet’s North West Zonal Office, MAKIA, Kano, said the programme further demonstrates the agency’s emphasis on professional development and continuous improvement among its personnel.
