Zamfara, XEJet Seal Deal For Abuja-Gusau Commercial Flights

The Zamfara State Government has entered into an Air Route Development Partnership Agreement with XEJet Limited to commence scheduled commercial flights between Gusau International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The agreement, signed on Monday, is expected to improve air connectivity to the state while creating opportunities for business, investment, tourism and broader economic activities.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the signing ceremony was chaired by the Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni, while the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammed Nakwada, signed the agreement on behalf of the state government.

Under the agreement, XEJet is expected to operate twice-weekly flights between Abuja and Gusau beginning next month.

The state government said the new route would make Zamfara more accessible to investors, businesses and visitors, while supporting the government’s efforts to expand transportation infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Governor said the development was consistent with the administration’s objective of improving the movement of people and goods across the state.

He noted that Gusau International Airport was constructed from scratch and completed within two years, stressing that its primary purpose was to provide more efficient transportation links and support economic development.

According to him, Governor Dauda Lawal has been actively pursuing international investors and donor agencies interested in investing in the state, adding that the commencement of commercial flights would further improve Zamfara’s attractiveness as an investment destination.

“Improving the state’s accessibility is our top priority, as it will create a more welcoming environment for business growth and investment,” he said.

The state government said the partnership with XEJet represents a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen Zamfara’s connectivity and integrate the state more effectively into Nigeria’s commercial and economic network.
